Sault College Honours Graduates at its 2023 Spring Convocation Ceremonies

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON June 6, 2023) – This week, the Sault College community will join together to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our most recent graduates. This year, our spring convocation will honour more than 1770 graduates from a variety of program areas across all our campuses.  

“Convocation marks a significant milestone in the lives of our graduates, representing dedication, perseverance, and hard work. Our graduates are embarking on new paths and journeys that are filled with opportunities. We encourage our graduates to embrace new challenges, continue to learn, and leverage the skills and knowledge from Sault College to make a positive impact and contribution to their respective industries and communities,” said Dr. Ron Common. “On behalf of Sault College we congratulate all of our graduates on this accomplishment.”

The ceremony of June 6 will celebrate graduates from Sault College’s Business, Culinary and Hospitality, and the School of Natural Environment and will feature keynote speaker Ryan Walker a graduate of Sault College’s College Adventure Recreation and Parks Technician program.

The June 7 ceremony will see graduates from various programs including Engineering Technology, Health, Information Technology, Media and Design, and Skilled Trades. Keynote speaker Justine Chalykoff, who was a 2022 Premier’s Award nominee in the Creative Arts and Design category and graduate of Sault College’s Digital Film Production program, will address guests.

Graduates from Aviation, Community Services, General Arts and Science, Justice Studies, and Continuing Education will be honoured on June 8 and will feature keynote speaker Constable Ryan Vendramin. Ryan is a graduate of both Sault College’s Police Foundations and Protection, Security and Investigation programs and a 2022 Premier’s Award nominee in the recent graduate category.

The ceremony on June 9 will honour graduates from Sault College’s Health programs and include a keynote address from Dr. R. Gary Sibbald, dermatologist and internist, founder and Executive Director of WoundPedia as well as the lead of Project ECHO Ontario Skin and Wound.

Sault College employee Nicole LaCroix will lead attendees in the singing of our national anthem on June 6 and the Korahster’s Choir will do so for the remaining three ceremonies. The choir will also sing a dedication song to graduates.

In keeping with Sault College tradition, the platform party guests, faculty and graduate procession will be led by the Lone Piper, Kevin Ullrich, also a Sault College employee. Following the presentation of liripipes and credentials, drummer Brock Lewis and the Enji Maawnjiding Dancers will lead the recessional.

Graduates, along with their families and friends, will celebrate this special occasion with a reception immediately following each of the convocation ceremonies.

All four convocation ceremonies will be live streamed on our . The videos will remain on the Sault College YouTube channel after the live stream is over.

In addition to these four convocation ceremonies, various other Sault College graduates in programs located outside of the Sault Ste. Marie campus will be celebrated, including: Kenora and Fort Frances campuses – in partnership with Seven Generations Education Institution – on June 8, 2023, Thunder Bay – in partnership with Oshki-Pimache-O-Win – on June 8, 2023, and Toronto and Brampton Campuses on June 20 and 21, 2023.
