(Sault Ste. Marie, ON June 1, 2023) – Today, staff, students and guests joined together at Sault College to commemorate the start of Pride Month and celebrate diversity and inclusion and the College’s 2SLGBTQQAI+ (queer) community. Supporters joined together to hear inspirational speeches and watch as the Progress Flag was raised.
Sault College and the Sault College Students’ Union remain strongly committed to fostering a campus that celebrates diversity and individuality and promotes equity, inclusion and respect for all. It is important to take the opportunity to celebrate the many contributions of queer communities across our country and reflect on the importance of inclusion and equality.
"Diversity is a core value engrained within various aspects of our operations and strategic visions and goals. As a College, we continue to reinforce our commitment to creating an invitational community where everyone feels welcomed and supported,” said Dr. Ron Common, President, Sault College. "We celebrate the rich diversity of the College and the community as a whole today and we hope everyone makes an individual commitment to be kind and welcoming to others every day of the year," he added.
"We are proud to announce that our student union will be celebrating Pride Month with a series of events and initiatives. Throughout the month, we will be using our social media platforms to raise awareness, share stories, and promote inclusivity. Join us on June 29 for an educational movie screening followed by a bonfire, where we will come together to learn, celebrate diversity, and foster a more inclusive campus community,” said Katherine Filion, President, Sault College Students’ Union.
Further details about these events will be available on the Sault College Students' Union Instagram page (@myscsu).
