This partnership allows McDonald’s employees who have completed McDonald’s Management Development Program Level 2 (MDP), to complete a 2-year Ontario College Business Diploma in as little as one year.
Through this agreement, Ontario Colleges agree to grant recognition for first year business credits into the Business diploma (MTCU # 50200) to McDonald’s Second Assistant Managers who have completed the Management Development Program Level 2 (MDP) with the following additional requirements:
- Math: applicant to complete preadmission math assessment. If assessment is passed, requirement for introductory level math course would be fulfilled. If assessment is not passed, an introductory math course would be required.
- Business Communication: applicant to complete preadmission writing assessment. If assessment is passed, requirement for introductory level writing course would be fulfilled. If assessment is not passed, an introductory writing course would be required.
- Completion of one general education elective course (equivalent to 3 credits) to satisfy the first-year general education requirement of the diploma. This could be before or concurrent with other courses.
Application Process
Applicants are to use the advanced standing application option on the and apply for the Business program.
Supporting documents to be sent to receiving college include:
- McDonald’s Canada Training Verification form (signed by applicant’s McDonald’s manager; training must be completed within 3 years of the application)
- Any additional post-secondary transcripts that applicant may have
- Colleges reserve the right to validate graduation from secondary school and original admission requirements
McDonald's Archway Program to a Business Diploma
In an agreement between McDonald’s and Sault College, McDonald’s employees who possess a High School Diploma with credit in Grade 12 English and Grade 11 Math as outlined in the program admission requirements, or equivalent and completed the McDonald’s Restaurant LTC, ALC and DLC leadership courses will be given first year credit for the following Level 1 and Level 2 courses provided that the additional Math, Business Communication and General Education Elective requirements are met:

Delivery Methods
The Level 3 and 4 courses described in the table below can be completed full-time or part-time and are delivered either on campus (in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario) or in an online/virtual format. The time to complete each program depends on the number of courses you complete in each semester. You need to negotiate your path through each program with your Academic Assistant.

Additional Information
You may be awarded additional credit based on the courses/academic programs or experiences you have completed outside of your McDonald’s employment. You will need to talk with an Academic Assistant to complete a prior learning assessment. It is recommended that you start with the Business Diploma Program.
