David Orazietti Honoured by Algoma University

Sault College proudly congratulates David Orazietti, Dean Aviation, Skilled Trades, Business, Environment and Culinary and future President on being recognized as an Honorary Member of Algoma University at its convocation ceremony this past weekend. This award is granted by the Algoma University Senate and highlights David’s service and contributions to Algoma University and within our broader community.

This award acknowledges his contributions to education and community development and symbolizes his leadership, vision, and efforts in advancing educational initiatives and making a positive impact on students and within the community.

David expressed his gratitude, stating, "I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition from Algoma University. This award serves as a reminder of the importance of education in transforming lives and empowering individuals. It has been truly exciting to witness the envisioned progress and path of Algoma University since the provincial government granted Algoma University College independence from Laurentian University in 2008. I look forward to continued collaboration with President and Vice-Chancellor Asima Vezina and the Algoma University community to further explore opportunities for growth,” he added.

David, a former Member of Provincial Parliament and Cabinet Minister in Ontario, City Councillor in Sault Ste. Marie, Department Head at the Algoma District School Board and third-generation Sault resident, has showcased leadership and management experience from both secondary and postsecondary education and within government. In April 2023, he was named Sault College's sixth President, further solidifying his commitment to education and community development.

Sault College extends its congratulations to David on this amazing honour.
